The Mennonite religion began in the 16th century when Menno Simmons joined a group of Anabaptist ( Christians who rejected infant baptism). Menno Simmons became the leader of the group and him and his followers were called Mennonites. Today they are approximately 1.5 million Mennonites in the world. The countries with the highest Mennonite population are India, Ethiopia, Canada, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the United States One important written thing in the Mennonite Religion is a book called Martyrs Mirror written in 1660 by a Dutch Mennonite, Thielman Juan Braght. Martyrs Mirror documents the stories of 4011 martyrs who died for their faith. It is believed to be the most important document besides the Bible |
